The main Yale product that you can now purchase from our company is the Yale Platinum Euro Cylinder 3 Star Kitemarked lock. This is Yale's most secure euro cylinder and can prove instrumental in helping to prevent lock snapping.

What is lock snapping?

The speed and ease with which thieves can snap locks are legitimate concerns. With lock snapping, force is applied to snap the lock cylinder in two before the outside part is removed, exposing the lock mechanism. Due to the access that this procedure provides to the mechanism, a key is then no longer necessary for unlocking the door.

Especially worryingly, locks can be snapped in this way simply with brute force; no skill or experience is required. Thieves might use such tools as screwdrivers and hammers in snapping locks, with which unauthorised access to the building can be gained in mere seconds.

Why our Yale lock can help

If your building's lock includes a euro profile cylinder fitted, it is especially at risk of lock snapping. Euro profile locks, which work alongside a multipoint lock, are in most composite and PVCu doors installed during the previous 15 years. A cylinder that has been awarded the TS007 Kitemark is capable of withstanding five types of attack: drilling, picking, bumping, plug extraction, and - indeed - snapping. TS007, a standard developed due to worries about cylinder attacks, has been given to our Yale lock as it uses a standalone 3 star cylinder.
